Corinth Canal

The Corinth Canal is a waterway that links the Ionian Sea's Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean Sea's Saronic Gulf. It passes through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth, effectively separating the Greek mainland from the Peloponnese region and giving rise to debates over whether the peninsula should be classified as an island.

Epidaurus Theatre

Dating back to 340 BC, the theater boasts a seating capacity of approximately 13,000 individuals. It was constructed in two stages, with the first phase taking place in the 4th century BC and the second phase occurring during the mid-2nd century. The theater was divided into two sections, one designated for citizens and another reserved for priests and authorities. Thanks to its impressive acoustics and remarkably preserved condition, the ancient theater continues to be utilized to this day.

Cyclopean Walls, Mycenae

The citadel of Mycenae is encircled by Cyclopean walls that were constructed in three distinct phases between the 14th and 13th centuries BC. The southern perimeter of the citadel is protected by a steep ravine that served as a natural defense mechanism. The acropolis itself contains numerous significant structures, such as the palatial complex situated at the highest point, the Lions' Gate which serves as the main entrance to the acropolis, and the impressive Religious Center. Additionally, the Tomb Circle A is home to a number of opulent, lacquered tombs and other valuable structures.

Palamidi, Nafplio

Standing tall at an elevation of 216 meters above sea level, the Palamidi Castle commands an impressive presence. In order to access the castle, one must ascend all 999 steps, which are expertly carved into the rock. However, the spectacular views from atop the castle more than justify the climb.

Bourtzi, Nafplio

Bourtzi, the picturesque Venetian fortress situated on the rocky islet of Agioi Theodoroi, is widely regarded as the most photographed and recognizable landmark in Nafplio. During the period of Venetian domination, a massive metal chain was employed to link Bourtzi with Akronafplia and safeguard the port from potential naval assaults.
